Timber frame extension, Church street

The brief from the client for this project was to create a spacious, light and efficient open plan kitchen and dining space for there growing family. We designed and built a full width extension to replace the existing very small kitchen. The structure was built out of a timber frame that was insulated with sheeps wool and wood fibre insulation, limed plastered on both sides. Reclaimed floorboards were fitted throughout the ground floor to blend the extension into the rest of the building and we built the kitchen out of reclaimed timber. We fabricated solid slate (reclaimed from old snooker tables) worktops. Oak French doors were installed opposite the bay window on the other side of the house to create a channel of light through the heart of the building.  The whole building was topped off with a living roof.
